The 2017 – 2018 edition of the Intercultural Ambassadors was again marked by the collaboration with Moor Allerton Elderly Care. Alex and Kez who are from the UK, Anete from Latvia, Riana from Japan, Sujin from South Korea and Zahra from Tanzania delivered two intercultural sessions for older people.
Intercultural Ambassadors into Schools
The Intercultural Ambassadors programme continued the partnership with Students into Schools in 2017 – 2018. Two Intercultural Ambassadors teams had the opportunity to deliver sessions in local primary schools, inspiring children to broaden their understanding of different cultures and enjoy meeting people from different places.
Time to Open a New World
The Language Centre Connections project aimed at creating opportunities for Language Centre international students to interact with other international and UK students. Moe, Oriana, Shelly and Vicky successfully managed to do that, through their Time to Open a New World events.
Cross-Cultural Educational Experiences
Angela, Sherry, Claudia, Rubab and Vishnu practiced their research skills by interviewing and creating focus groups. This way, the ambassadors managed to find out what different cross-cultural educational experiences people might have on campus.
A Tale of Two Cities
Sophia, Spencer, Isabelle and Kseniya have made sure to create links between University of Leeds and Southwest Jiaotong University in Chengdu, China.
Global Fusion
This project mainly focused on creating an opportunity for Chinese students to interact and integrate with other international and UK students. Hugo, Jiani, Jessica, Charlie, Viola and Anuujin have organised a nice performance event, in partnership with Business Confucius Institute.
Celebrate Love
Emily, Weija, Moeko, Paola and Vivian made sure elders are also included. The ambassadors successfully delivered a set of activities for the people at Moor Allerton Elderly Care (MAECare).
Community Comics Power
Have you ever been curious of or do you have any talent in creating comics? Moreover, do you believe that comics could convey powerful messages?
Sumiko, Leonie, Gui, Morris, Kaitlyn and Sumaiya created workshops on how to create comics and then exhibited the works made during those sessions.
Glocul Insights
Demi, Xiao, Dervla, Najem and Amanda organised an interactive workshop for international foundation year students so they could enhance their intercultural skills and discover new cultures.
Community Wellbeing
Part of the Faculty of Biological Sciences’ “Be Curious” event, this Community Wellbeing project has succeeded in liaising the university with the local community. Camille, Wendy, Mairead, Shenene and Teddy with their “Curiously Delicious” free event managed to raise awareness about healthy eating.
